Pope Francis prays for Peace in Haiti
Sunday March 31, 2024, Pope Francis, from Saint Peter's Basilica, during his urbi et orbi blessing on the world prayed that the resurrected Lord would come to the aid of the Haitian people, "[...] so that they can soon there be an end to the acts of violence, devastation and bloodshed in this country, and that it can move forward on the path of democracy and fraternity."

Arrest warrant against the Dominican Vice-Consul in PAP
The Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs has suspended Rafy Joel Peralta Holguín, Dominican vice-consul in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, following a complaint of abuse of a minor teenager in Dominican territory. An arrest warrant was issued against him. The information was confirmed by Me Sandra Sierra Difó, Prosecutor, coordinator of the Gender Violence, Sexual and Domestic Crimes Unit.

Congratulations to the new President of Guatemala
Ambassador Gandy Thomas, Permanent Representative a.i. of the Permanent Mission of Haiti to the Organization of American States (OAS) presented his congratulations to the newly elected President of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo, during the protocol session of the Permanent Council of the OAS convened for the occasion.

5 Taiwanese nationals evacuated
Following the interruption of commercial air services with Port-au-Prince, the Taiwan Government (Republic of China) facilitated the departure of 5 Taiwanese nationals who expressed a desire to leave Haiti. All employees of the Taiwan Embassy in Haiti, including the Taiwanese Technical Mission and private sector partners involved in bilateral projects, are maintaining their operations despite the current difficulties, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to Haiti.

Economy : 6th year of decline
Economist Enomy Germain affirms that the Haitian economy will experience a 6th consecutive year of negative growth due to the persistence of the climate of violence and insecurity which causes the systematic blocking of commercial activities.
