USA : End date of evacuations

The U.S. State Department sent an email Thursday evening to registered U.S. citizens who wish to leave Haiti, indicating that April 12, 2024 is the deadline.

2nd day of relative calm in Port-au-Prince

Friday April 5, for the second consecutive day, Port-au-Prince remained in a tense relative calm. Armed gangs appear to have provided a respite from constant attacks on the National Police (PNH), while international humanitarian organizations are calling for more resources to continue distributing food to the thousands of people displaced by the violence.

End of run for an escaped rapist

Jean Louis Wilgert (32 years old), an escapee from the National Penitentiary, was arrested by the South-East Police, in the Marbial district. Note that Jean Louis Wilgert was incarcerated on June 17, 2018, for rape of a minor.

Inmates in serious difficulty in 3 prisons

Several hundred inmates are in great difficulty in the prisons of Petit Goâve, Jacmel and Jérémie, warns the Collective of Lawyers for the Defense of Human Rights. Former Senator Sorel Jacinthe of the December 21 Agreement declared that a buffer force involving American troops in particular will inevitably have to be deployed in Haiti to clear the ground before the arrival of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS).
