Haiti - Literature : Daniel Supplice pays tribute to the writer of the diaspora, Gary Klang

Daniel Supplice, the Minister to the Presidency, in charge of Haitians Living Abroad expressed his joy at the many distinctions which rewards the work of our famous writers which evolve in the diaspora and paid a tribute, very special to the writer-poet Gary Klang.

My dear compatriots,

Gary Klang was doubly honored, by the Kabylie (Algeria) [via the troop la Traversée] on the one hand, and by the Quebec Premier Jean Charest, and the Quebec government on the other.

I particularly want to congratulate the man with the pen well chiselled and share, as a Minister to the Presidency, in charge of Haitians living abroad, the tribute that crowns the literary career of the author of "L'île aux deux visages". Dr. Klang, I assure you that the much-deserved recognition, will be reflected on Haiti and on all the Haitian literature.

Great lover of words and the French language, you carried the national flag towards distant horizons through your many poems including "Toute terre est prison". It's rightly that your work has been rewarded.

Garry, Haiti entire share your joy and emotions. You made the honour of the country that saw you born. The motherland is proud of you.

Gary Klang was born December 28, 1941 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, he left Haiti in the 1960s, under the Duvalier dictatorship. In Paris, he made ​​all his literary studies at the Sorbonne, from the propaedeutic to a doctoral (with a thesis on Proust), while passing by a licence and a master (his memory is also on Marcel Proust).

His work is very varied: poems, novels, essays, novels and a play. On July 14, 2000, the French Union chose him as patron of the national holiday while launching his collection of poems "La Terre est vide comme une étoile". Since 2005, Gary Klang is president of French writers of America, section of Montreal. He is a member of the Quebec Writers' Union (UNEQ), of Board of the Pen Club in Quebec, the Association of French-language writers (ADELF), the Pen Club of Haiti and corresponding member of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters.
