Haiti - North Miami : Haitian Heritage Month 2024 (Program)

In May, the city of North Miami celebrates Haitian Heritage Month with a series of events showcasing Haiti's resilience, artistry and heritage.

"I am delighted to invite everyone to celebrate Haitian Heritage Month in the great city of North Miami," said Estimé-Irvin Deputy Mayor of North Miami. “This is an opportunity to recognize the lasting legacy of the Haitian community and to embrace the richness of its historical contributions, its traditions, its art, its cuisine and its cultural expressions. North Miami is home to a very proud and vibrant Haitian-American community. I can't think of a better place to celebrate.

This Friday, May 10, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., dance enthusiasts of all levels are invited to the first of four Haitian Konpa dance classes led by D'Stylez, LLC, at MOCA Plaza, located at 770 NE 125th St., North Miami, FL.

Additional Haitian Konpa dance classes in North Miami are scheduled for May 14 at Katz Restaurant and Lounge, located at 738 NE 125th St.; Da Cave Miami, Tuesday, May 21, located at 13641 NW 7th Ave., and Sommelier Valley, located at 711 NE 125 St., Tuesday, May 28. These immersive cultural dance experiences are free and will begin at 6 p.m.

Arrive on an empty stomach to the Gourmet Kreyol Haitian Food Festival on Saturday, May 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at MOCA Plaza. Hosted by the City of North Miami and Commissioner Marleine Bastien, Miami-Dade County, District 2, the community is invited to indulge in a diverse offering of Haitian cuisine and cultural experiences for the whole family. This event features celebrity chefs, tastings, competitions, a children's zone, and a unique arts and crafts market. Entry is free.
