Debacle of the bandits face the PNH
Friday May 17, 2024, the Police made the armed bandits who had stormed and occupied the premises of the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes (CSC/CA), located on Street de la Réunion, a few meters from the National Palace. The bandits took away office equipment as well as the surveillance system and burned documents.

221st flag day in Ottawa
The Embassy of Haiti participated on May 17, 2024 in the artistic exhibition and performance of artists from the Haitian community in Ottawa. This initiative of the Club of Haitian Students of Collège la Cité (CEHC) is part of the commemorative activities of the 221 years of the creation of the Haitian bicolor. The group Tanbou Lakay, the DJ Twins and the artists Rèn Dara, Noreen Tilus, among others, are performing at the Pine View Golf Club in Ottawa.

56% of school meals of local origin
As of May this year, WHO-Haiti school meals are 56% locally sourced. "We purchase local products from more than 170 farmer organizations. We support the national target to achieve 100% locally produced school meals by 2030."

Make way for solar energy
As part of the International Day of Light (May 16), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) partnered with "DigitalKap Solar", a private sector energy company to make solar energy accessible to rural communities in Haiti. Through the "Haiti Invest" project, USAID supported this company to reach more communities, households and small businesses that are underserved with electricity in the Northern Department of Haiti. "Solar energy is no longer the privilege of the few," says Patrick Eugene, CEO of DigitalKap. Through this partnership, we have facilitated access to solar energy for 113 customers, primarily businesses that provide much-needed goods and services to many rural communities.

Taiwan and mushroom production
A Taiwanese technical delegation went this week to the Haitian Center for the Promotion of Agriculture and Environmental Protection (CEHPAPE) to share Taiwan's experience in the implementation of agricultural cooperation projects in Haiti as well as the production of mushrooms from agricultural waste. By using agricultural waste processing, it is possible to create economic value and employment opportunities, while achieving the objectives of environmental protection and sustainable agricultural development.

D1 Arkema : The trophy escapes "Corventina"
At the start of the week the National Union of Professional Footballers or UNFP revealed the winning player for the Arkema D1 Best Promising Trophy. It was Louna Ribadeira (8 goals and 4 assists) from PSG who won the title. Melchie Dumornay aka "Corventina" (6 goals and 4 assists) was unable to win this trophy, which can be explained by her absence from the stadiums for several months due to her ankle injury.
