Haiti - Politic : Martelly in Cuba
"I consider that it is an honor to visit for the first time a sister nation and to thank your government for so many solidarity," declared the president of Haiti a few minutes after his arrival in Havana. At the José Martí International Airport, the Head of State was welcomed the Vice Foreign Minister, Rogelio Sierra. In statements to the national and foreign press, the Haitian president stressed the Cuban medical cooperation in Haiti.
"We are very pleased of medical assistance and professionals from Cuba. The Minister of Health [Florence Duperval Guillaume] also traveled to Havana nd we will have the opportunity to work on future projects," declared Michel Martelly.
The Head of State also announced that projects will be reviewed for a South-South collaboration "...during this visit will be reviewed cooperation projects with the countries of the region, such as CARICOM, to identify areas of collaboration and promote South-South cooperation."
Before leaving Port-au-Prince the President Martelly declared "...the idea is to meet with Cuban counterparts to work on the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation, and at the same time discuss the possibility of tripartite relations, and in this menu we have the deepening of the cooperation with Cuba in the following areas, health, agriculture, fishing it is very important for us, we are already working to establish by the end of the month a seminar on fisheries and maritime professions [...], environment, education, construction techniques, culture, tourism and protocol..."

The President Martelly during his visit must have a meeting with the Cuban President Raúl Castro. It is also planned working sessions that will be chaired by the Heads of State of Haiti and Cuba, meetings with ministers...
