Haiti - FLASH : Kenyans are in Haiti (video)
Tuesday June 25, 2024, as part of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS), a first contingent of 400 elite Kenyan police officers https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-42625-haiti-flash-400-elite-kenyan-police-officers-fly-to-haiti.html , aboard a "Kenya Airways" plane landed around 9:20 a.m. at Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

A major security system including special units of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and soldiers of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H) had been deployed around the airport to avoid any incident.

The Kenyan police officers disembarked in military fatigues, equipped with their assault rifles, to regroup on the Tarmac before returning by bus to their base located within the perimeter of the airport after loading their equipment into trucks.

This arrival was followed by a joint press conference by the Prime Minister, Garry Conille and the Head of the Kenyan delegation, Monica Juma at the reception villa in Musseau.

Conille welcomed the arrival of Kenyan police officers as an opportunity to restore order in Haiti. The arrival of this contingent is "a unique opportunity" at a time when "the country is going through a very difficult time," declared the Prime Minister alongside the Head of the Kenyan delegation.

Garry Conille, renewed the State's commitment to ensuring security throughout the territory and announced several decisions that unite the Haitian National Police, the Haitian Army and Kenyan police officers who have to do with security, from way for life to resume normally in Haiti

For her part, Monica Juma, the Head of the Kenyan Delegation declared "[...] We came to Haiti because the Haitian population like all other peoples needs peace, security and deserves sustainable development. We are ready to cooperate with the National Police for the restoration of peace in the country [...]" asking the Haitian population to support the Mission
