MMSS : Jamaica contingent arrives in August

US Ambassador Dennis Hankins announces the deployment of Jamaican forces to Haiti as part of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) next month (August). According to the diplomat, the Mission currently being deployed will include 1,000 men by September.

Leslie Voltaire’s denial

Saturday July 20, 2024, Leslie Voltaire Presidential Advisor left Haiti for the Dominican Republic for health reasons. Speaking on a radio station of the capital, Leslie Voltaire insisted on denying the information circulating suggesting that he was rushed to the Dominican Republic, specifying that he was in the Dominican Republic for a check-up medical visit.

CEP : Representative of the confirmed union sector

Friday July 19, 2024, 75 union structures across all sectors voted (70 votes for 21 against) for trade unionist Nemrod Sanon as their Representative on the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). He is the 4th confirmed advisor out of 9, after those from the reformed cult sector (Peterson Pierre-Louis), the voodoo sector (Me Newton Louis Saint-Juste) and the University Council (Marie Florence Mathieu).

Lionel Lazarre installed then revoked

Lionel Lazarre was reportedly dismissed just hours after being installed as Deputy Spokesperson for the Haitian National Police (PNH). This decision was taken after several human rights organizations raised their voices to denounce the choice of the former General Coordinator of the National Union of Haitian Police Officers (SYNAPOHA) accused of involvement in acts of corruption.
