2024 Olympics Games : Artistic Gymnastics, Haiti eliminated

On Sunday, July 28, 2024, Lynnzee Brown, participated in the qualification phase of the artistic gymnastics events. On the uneven bars she did not qualify, finishing 74th out of 80 with a score of 11.500 (difficulty 3.700, execution 8.100), on the beam either, finishing 70th out of 78 with a score of 11.533 (difficulty 3.900, execution 7.633) and on the floor exercises she finished 64th out of 75 with a score of 12.233 (difficulty 4.800, execution 7.433). Let us recall that for each discipline only the 8 best gymnasts (2 maximum per National Olympic Committee) of each apparatus are qualified for the final by apparatus.

2024 O.G. : Judo, Haiti eliminated

Monday, July 29, 2024 in judo -73kg men's elimination 1/16 finals, Haitian judoka Philippe Abel Metellus fought this morning against Thai Masayuki Terada. The fight which took place at the Arena Champ-de-Mars ended 11-0 in favor of the Thai with 1 Ippon and 1 Waza-Ari. Metellus is therefore eliminated.

Taekwondo : Ava Soon Lee gold medal (Mexico)

"Congratulations to Ava Soon Lee for winning the gold medal at the 'Panam Series U22' of Taekwondo in Querétaro, Mexico ! Your dedication and hard work has really paid off. So proud of you !" Haitian Taekwondo Federation. After winning a silver medal at the 2024 Senior Pan-American Championship in May of this year in Brazil and a gold medal at the National Amateur Championship in the United States on July 4, the Haitian taekwondo athlete has already accumulated 3 medals, including 2 gold.

Humanitarian : The world disinterested of Haiti

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says the UN continues to work with Haitian agencies to provide essential assistance to displaced communities, despite severe funding constraints. The 2024 international humanitarian appeal for Haiti is less than 25% funded after more than 6 months, with only $161 million received so far out of the $674 million needed

Green Jobs

Moïse Fils Jean Pierre, Minister of the Environment, has a discussion meeting with Pierre Gérard Vauthier, the new Representative in Haiti of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This meeting allowed the Minister to discuss the government’s major environmental priorities, with a particular emphasis on the urgency of implementing initiatives that can contribute to social healing through the creation of green jobs. The Minister highlighted some key actions that will be supported by the Ministry, including a reforestation campaign, forest inventory, as well as the implementation of policies and strategies to combat climate change.
