Haiti - Fad'H : Change at the head of the Haitian Armed Forces

Yesterday, Wednesday, August 7, in the Council of Ministers, it was decided to appoint Brigadier General Derby Guerrier as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H), he replaces Lieutenant-General Jodel Lessage, who was first appointed by President Jovenel Moïse on November 17, 2017.

This would be a joint decision of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) and the Government with a view to restoring security in the country, and the FAd'H are called upon to play a greater role in the fight against armed groups.

The Order formalizing this appointment should be published shortly in the official newspaper Le Moniteur.

Let's recall that following the instructions of Jean Marc Berthier Antoine, the new Minister of Defense, the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Louis Marcelin Daniel, issued a circular requesting that the Haitian Armed Forces be placed in condition "D", which presupposes the maximum alert state decreed in the case of a "state of siege" or in the event of imminent danger and means having the maximum number of staff at the disposal of the commander. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-42583-haiti-flash-the-fad-h-on-maximum-alert.html

The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd’H) have also announced a recruitment of soldiers https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-42894-haiti-flash-the-haitian-armed-forces-are-recruiting-soldiers.html https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-42930-icihaiti-flash-fad-h-recruitment-modification-in-the-required-documents.html
