Haiti - Agriculture : Two new photovoltaic water pumping installations 12/08/2024 10:10:48 This project, initiated by the Ministry of the Environment in collaboration with the Pan-American Development Foundation (PADF), is part of the program entitled "Design, supply, installation and implementation of 25 solar-powered water pumping systems", funded by the Government of Taiwan. These solar energy systems produce approximately 40 kWh of energy to operate a 30 kWh pump with a flow rate of 125 gallons of water per minute, with the capacity to irrigate 25 hectares, according to the details of engineer Vladimir Chéry of the Ministry, responsible for supervising the works, which recalls that the Ministry carried out prospecting studies on the water table before starting the work, in order to ensure strict compliance with environmental standards. Representatives of peasant organizations, community organizations and religious communities of the department took part in this event and welcomed the commissioning of this infrastructure, thus ensuring the revival of local agricultural production. They also committed to monitoring the equipment and making good use of it. Ambassador Wen-Jann KU reaffirmed his country's determination to support the Haitian people in their efforts towards development. With these new technologies, communities will no longer need to use fossil fuels to irrigate their land. Wen-Jann KU also renewed Taiwan’s commitment to strengthening this partnership aimed at modernizing agriculture in Haiti. HL/ HaitiLibre
