Haiti - Cap-Haitien : Presentation of the major projects of the political transition

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, Prime Minister Garry Conille arrived in Cap-Haïtien, at the head of a large delegation composed of members of the government and the diplomatic corps accredited to Haiti (Ambassadors of the United States, Canada, France, Spain, Mexico, Chile, Switzerland, the United Nations, the European Union, among others). The objective of this mission is to discuss with the authorities in order to assess the infrastructure, economic and tourist potential of the North and Northeast departments in order to better articulate and better guide government actions in terms of development of the North Region.

"We are here to officially visit the Region and consider together options for solutions in order to provide appropriate responses to the socio-economic and security challenges of the country. The North is one of the priorities in the Government's integrated development action prospects," explained Conille, at the beginning of his mission.

The Prime Minister presented the Government Roadmap during a working session as part of his official tour. The Head of Government wanted to emphasize the strategy for implementing the major projects of the political transition.

According to Conille, the Government, with the support of Haiti's international partners, will do everything possible to successfully implement the transition agenda, especially the major projects that are : resolving the security and humanitarian crisis, strengthening justice and restoring security, reviving the economy, organizing constitutional reform and general elections in the country.

The representatives of Haiti's friendly countries and the International Community present at this working session reaffirmed their commitments and their full support for the country, in order to help the success of the transition whose projects are defined in the Agreement of April 3rd, 2024.

In addition, Prime Minister Conille, accompanied by the delegation, visited several Institutions and Infrastructures in Cap-Haïtien, including the Justinien University Hospital and the José Marti Power Plant. During this official mission to the Northern Metropolis, the Head of Government also met with officials from the National Airport Authority (AAN) and the National Civil Aviation Office (OFNAC) to decide on the development of the Northern Region in terms of migration.

Prime Minister Conille, in the presence of local authorities and the Diplomatic Corps, took the opportunity to meet with regional personalities and discuss the current socio-security crisis and the strategy that the government must implement to prevent the impact of insecurity on the Northern Region of Haiti.
