![]() Haiti - FLASH : First major joint operation Kenya / PNH 28/08/2024 09:35:57
On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, one day after the arrival and receipt of new MaxxPros armored vehicles from the United States, a joint special operation involving the special forces of the Kenyan contingent and the PNH was conducted. More than 15 armored vehicles were deployed in this major police operation, during which several bandits were reportedly fatally injured. Three SWAT officers were slightly injured during the clashes. This carefully planned operation, led by Acting Commander Normil Rameau of the PNH and Godfrey Otunge, Commander of the Multinational Support Mission, began in the early hours of the morning and targeted the areas of Bel-Air and Solino, neighborhoods close to Delmas, a neighborhood controlled by Jimmy Chérizier, alias "Barbecue". The National Police has not yet published an official report on the results of this ongoing operation but promises to publish one shortly. As this was the first large-scale joint operation, the population was notified. The Prime Minister, the DG of the PNH and the Commander of the Mission, while closely following the progress of the ongoing operations, reiterated their commitment to ensuring the return of Peace and normality to Haiti. The trio warned gang members that this operation was just the beginning unless they laid down their weapons, surrendered and were prepared to face justice for the atrocities they had committed. They affirmed that subsequent security operations would continue and that the Haitian government would deploy all its resources to support the joint operations. The PNH calls on members of the population to remain calm during police interventions, assuring them that these are carried out in a professional manner and continues to solicit their frank collaboration.
