The Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE) organizes to the hotel Karibe, from November 22 to 23, with the support of United Nations Development Agency and UN-Habitat, a forum under the theme "Vil nou vle a" [the city that we want], which is part of a series of planning activities undertaken since the earthquake of January 2010.

The Ministry states that 23 workshops and about twenty bilateral meetings, bringing together nearly 600 participants [elected, technicians of municipalities, representatives of the civil society, professionals in urbanism and architecture, community leaders and representatives of local authorities] participating to this Forum. Maintain the participation of all actors involved and concerned with the reconstruction and the future of the city is essential asserts the MPCE.

At this forum, discussions about mechanisms of coordination between the neighborhood, the municipality and the metropolitan area, for example, should allow to lay the foundations of a device to implement strategic plans.

The presentation and discussion of the results of this effort of collective reflection will allow to launch a debate with the people of Port-au-Prince and the etropolitan area to obtain a consensus, at this key step in the planning process. Planning that will be transparent, to maintain the interest, the participation and the support from all, as well as the mobilization of national and local resources and a better understanding of the steps, of the constraints and obstacles that may arise and thus limit the rustration and unrealistic expectations about the results.

The organizers lso provide a technical exhibition for a greater diffusion of current planning works underway in the neighborhoods, municipalities and the metropolitan area.
