Haiti - Taiwan : Donation of 400 individual protection kits for the PNH and the FAd’H

On Thursday, August 29, 2024, Prime Minister Garry Conille participated in the ceremony to hand over a batch of 400 personal protection kits to the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H). This is a donation from Taiwan (Republic of China) to strengthen the intervention capacities of law enforcement in the fight against armed gangs.

In his speech, Prime Minister Garry Conille. declared "Allow me to express our sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Taiwan, represented here by His Excellency the Ambassador of Taiwan to Haiti, Mr. Richard Wen-Jiann Ku, for this fraternal and solidarity gesture towards our nation. It is with deep gratitude and renewed hope that we gather today for this ceremony to hand over equipment to the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Haitian Armed Forces (FADH) [...] This donation is not only a material contribution; it is also a reflection of a sincere and lasting friendship between Haiti and Taiwan, two nations that share a history of struggle for freedom, dignity and democracy. Through this gesture, Taiwan reaffirms its interest in our common quest for security and development."

In his speech, Wen-Jiann Ku explained "[...] Each kit includes : a bulletproof helmet, a bulletproof vest that meets the international ballistic standard, pockets for various magazines and radios, balaclavas, cut-resistant gloves, protective glasses, and tactical knee pads."

According to the Taiwanese diplomat, with this donation, the quantity of personal protection kits donated to the Haitian Government in the space of 2 years reaches 800 kits in total.

"I am delighted to be able to give you these personal protection kits intended for the Haitian National Police and the Haitian Armed Forces. I am confident that with this MADE IN TAIWAN equipment, tailor-made for the Haitian climate, this will provide the best protection to the agents deployed on the ground," concluded the Taiwanese Ambassador at the end of his mission in Haiti.
