Haiti - NOTICE : Security measures in effect in the Bay of Port-au-Prince

Jocelin Villier, Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), in a note dated September 30, 2024, advises users of the International Port of Port-au-Prince, shipping agents, operators and managers of port facilities that, in order to strengthen security in the Bay of Port-au-Prince and also ships maneuvering in the bay, the following measures are taken :

1) All ships are required to observe the strict application of the 72-hour notice period before their arrival in order to give the Port Authority time to organize a secure reception of the ship;

2) Arriving 25 nautical miles from the port, the ship must contact the Port Authority so that a security escort can be made available to it;

3) A lookout is mandatory on board, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the Bay of Port-Prince;

4) The public force will accompany the security of the port in the intensification of maritime and land patrols;

5) The declaration of security is completed when the vessel crosses the port basin and remains in force until it leaves the port facility;

6) The fences of the port facilities are reinforced and additional surveillance towers are carried out there.

Other safety and security measures are currently under study.
