Haiti - FLASH : Massacre in Pont-Sondé, at least 50 victims

The men of the Savien Gang "Gran Grif" of Chief Luckson Élan (sanctioned by the USA and the UN) attacked on Thursday night around 3:00 a.m. the town of Pont-Sondé, a few kilometers from the city center of Saint-Marc, killing at least twenty residents and injuring several dozen others, some seriously, looting and burning houses... (partial toll in the morning)

According to Bertide Horace, Spokesperson for the Commission for Dialogue, Reconciliation and Awareness to Save the Artibonite, other neighboring localities were also attacked by the bandits, he mentions a provisional toll of at least 30 dead.

For his part, later in the day, Walter Montas, the Vice-delegate of the district of Saint-Marc speaks of "about forty people killed, according to the data collected." This assessment, however, remains provisional, the authorities having not been able to identify all the victims due to the ongoing clashes.

The Saint-Nicolas hospital in Saint-Marc is completely overwhelmed by the number of injured.

Many families had to flee their homes, taking refuge in the Philippe Guerrier public square in Saint-Marc to escape the murderous fury of the bandits.

Following the attacks perpetrated in the locality of Pont-Sondé by the men of the Savien gang, the Haitian National Police (PNH) has already adopted several measures to respond to the criminal actions of these bandits.

Agents from the Temporary Anti-Gang Unit (UTAG) are currently deployed as reinforcements to supplement the units already engaged on the ground, in order to track down all the bandits.
