Leslie Voltaire met US Ambassador
Leslie Voltaire, the President of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) received Denis B. Hanskins, the Ambassador of the United States yesterday Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Villa d’Accueil during a visit to the CPT. During this courtesy visit, the American diplomat commended the CPT for its commitment to a peaceful transition of power. He also reaffirmed that the United States is ready to continue working with the Council to build a better future for all Haitians.

DR : Mass expulsion
The Dominican Republic authorities announced that they have expelled nearly 11,000 Haitians over the past week. The move is part of a broader strategy to carry out weekly expulsions amid rising tensions between neighboring countries, as Haiti grapples with escalating gang violence and deepening poverty

105 children killed
The 2024 annual report on children and armed conflict, published by the United Nations Secretary-General, expresses deep concern about armed gang violence in Haiti. The report highlights serious violations of children’s rights, including forced recruitment, killings, sexual violence and attacks on schools. From January to September 2024, 105 children were killed, and more than 300,000 are internally displaced.

Judo : Bronze Medal
At the Pan-American Open in Santo Domingo, Jennifer Etienne (57 kg) beat her Dominican opponent before falling to Colombia in the last four. She bounced back against Panama, winning the Bronze Medal thanks to a decisive "Waza Ari" and strategic pressing, forcing the disqualification of her opponent.

30% of children in gangs
More than 2 million Haitians live under the control of armed gangs, according to the organization Human Rights Watch, which revealed that food insecurity has pushed at least 30% of children to join gangs.
