Haiti - Security : Defense Minister Antoine in Argentina
Friday, October 11, 2024, Jean Marc Berthier Antoine, the Minister of Defense, left the country to travel to Argentina in Mendoza, where he will participate in the XVI Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas (October 14 to 16, 2024)

This conference aims to address major issues related to regional security challenges.

Minister Antoine will take advantage of this Conference to increase bilateral meetings with his counterparts. These exchanges will strengthen ties between Haiti and countries in the region, with a view to expanding defense cooperation.

Antoine will reiterate the Haitian Government's commitment to restoring state authority and reestablishing security in Haiti. In particular, he will outline his administration's efforts to make the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H) a service army.

The Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas (CMDA), which was created in 1995, is a meeting of the Ministries of Defense of the Hemisphere, of the 34 member countries : Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, Ecuador, El Salvador, United States of America, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela. The CMDA promotes mutual knowledge and the exchange of experience in the framework of hemispheric defense and security.
