In the Global Peace Index 2024 (GPI) published by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP), Haiti is ranked 143rd out of 163 countries, just behind Venezuela (142nd).

The GPI uses 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators from highly respected sources and measures the state of Peace in three areas : the level of social security; the extent of ongoing internal and international conflicts; and the degree of militarization.

Haiti has recorded the largest deterioration in Peace in the region and the fifth largest deterioration globally. In 2023, Haiti had recorded the second largest deterioration in Peace, ranking 129th in the world...

The decline in serenity in Haiti has been caused by deteriorations in all areas, with the largest occurring in the area of ​​safety and security.

Haiti is now in 2024 the least peaceful country in the Caribbean region (and last) and the 19th worst country in Latin America.

The Dominican Republic advances 5 places and ranks 96th.
