Haiti - Port-de-Paix : Reconstruction work on the Notre Dame du Perpétuel Secours Institution

The Digicel Foundation announces the start of reconstruction work on the Notre Dame du Perpétuel Secours Institution in Port-de-Paix. This ambitious project will be the 197th school funded by the Foundation in Haiti.

The Notre Dame du Perpétuel Secours Institution, a true pillar of education in Haiti, is preparing to celebrate its 150th anniversary. It is one of the oldest schools in the country and was the very first founded by the Daughters of Wisdom in Haiti. Located in the heart of the city, near the cathedral, this school is a reference in the North-West and has contributed to the training of many generations of young Haitians.

However, the public section of the establishment requires major renovations. It is with this in mind that the Digicel Foundation wishes not only to provide the school with a new building, but also to double its capacity. The number of classrooms will increase from 6 to 12, with each room having a surface area of 50 m2.

The construction site, launched on October 16, 2024, is entirely financed and supervised by the Digicel Foundation. If conditions permit, this project will be completed within 10 consecutive months.

In parallel, the Digicel Foundation is leading two other similar projects : the Collège Jean XXIII, an annex to Calvaire Ste Thérèse in Cap-Haïtien, and the "Sant Edikasyon ak Reyabilitasyon Kay Christine" in Obléon, carried out in partnership with Nos Petits Frères et Sœurs. The Foundation has also just celebrated the inauguration of the Collège Antoine Adrien in Furcy.

With nearly 200 schools built, the Digicel Foundation supports school communities on a daily basis to guarantee quality education to more than 60,000 students, at all levels. This includes not only adapted buildings, but also teacher training and community involvement in school management.
