Haiti - COP 16 : Leslie Voltaire declares that Haiti's biodiversity is not lost (video)

During his participation in the Conference of the Parties on Biodiversity (COP 16) in Cali, Colombia, Leslie Voltaire, the pro tempore President of the Transitional Council, declared on Tuesday, October 29 at the COP16 Tribune :

"[...] Haiti's biodiversity is not lost and it remains of crucial importance for the Haitian population and for the Latin America & Caribbean region. 'Haiti is the cradle of the historical Botany of America' said the Swedish botanist Erich Eichman at the beginning of the 20th century."

Voltaire explained that despite the often unfavorable image projected in the international media, Haitian biodiversity retains all its vitality.

"At the COP16 Tribune, I forcefully addressed the burning challenges of insecurity and the humanitarian crisis in Haiti. I reaffirmed my solemn commitment to work tirelessly to protect and restore our biodiversity, an essential pillar to reestablish our harmony with nature. Even today, the population relies on a wide variety of plants for its health needs."
