Haiti - Elections : Important forum on the challenges and conditions for the success of the referendum and electoral process 10/11/2024 09:03:08 The purpose of the exchange day was to continue the exercise of identifying electoral challenges and to provide a space for discussion on issues that will facilitate solutions to these challenges. This Forum took place in the presence of Leslie Voltaire, President Pro tempore of the CPT, the Councilor-President, Pastor Frisnel Joseph, Prime Minister Garry Conille, members of the ministerial cabinet, members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to Haiti, members of Civil Society, representatives of international partners and actors who signed the April 3rd agreement. In his opening speech, Prime Minister Conille recalled the importance of harmony between political actors and all other sectors of national life to achieve a successful referendum and electoral process and transfer power on February 7, 2026 to elected officials, in accordance with the Agreement of April 3rd, 2024. We absolutely must provide this country not only with a new government on February 7, 2026, but also with practical instruments that will allow this government to carry out its work," explained Conille, highlighting the projects already carried out as part of the implementation of the process, including the Steering Committee. the establishment of the Provisional Electoral Council-CEP, the assurance of the establishment of financing for certain important stages of the National Conference, the official launch of which is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, 2024. "These projects send clear signals to politicians : despite the crisis, we are moving towards the elections. We are committed to doing so. And we are going to do so. Politicians are invited to participate actively and constructively in the process of dialogue on the Constitution and to prepare to mobilize and raise awareness among the population in order to go to the elections and arrive, once and for all, to break with decades of practices that have led us to the abyss where we are today."
