Haiti - Security : Official reopening of the Liancourt Police Station

On Monday, November 25, 2024, the Haitian National Police (PNH) reopened the Liancourt Police Station (Artibonite Dept.), abandoned after the attack and takeover by men from Savien's "Gran Grif" gang on January 25, 2023, where 6 courageous police officers lost their lives https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-38701-icihaiti-insecurity-6-police-officers-killed-in-clashes-with-the-gran-grif-gang.html

A large official delegation, led by Caleb Exantus, the Departmental Director of the Southeast of the PNH, accompanied by the Principal Commissioner of Saint-Marc, Max Altis Vital and the Government Commissioner of the jurisdiction Venson François, went there for the event that the population had been waiting for a long time.

The reopening of the Police Station was greeted by a jubilant population. Cheers erupted as the Gonaïves Police Commissioner cut the ribbon marking the official opening of the police station. As a token of gratitude, residents quickly mobilized to clean and improve the premises, making them more welcoming and functional.

Police officers from the Departmental Law Enforcement Unit (UDMO), the Temporary Anti-Gang Unit (UTAG), the Motorized Intervention Brigade (BIM), the PNH Intervention Group (SWAT) and the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) and armored vehicles were mobilized to ensure the safety of the population.

The Liancourt Police Station reopens its doors with a team of UDMO police officers who will have 2 armored vehicles and who will work in collaboration with UTAG officers stationed in Verrettes.
