Haiti - Diplomacy : Mission abroad for the new Haitian Chancellor

Monday, December 2nd, 2024, Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste, the Minister of Foreign Affairs left Haiti for Washington.

In Washington, the Haitian Chancellor will have strategic discussions with senior American officials, mainly focusing on security in Haiti. These discussions aim to obtain concrete support to resolve the security crisis that deeply affects the daily lives of Haitians.

Minister Jean-Baptiste will also take advantage of his stay in the United States to meet with influential members of the American Congress regarding the renewal of the HELP and HOPE laws. The future of more than 30,000 direct jobs in the Haitian textile sector is at stake…

After Washington, Chancellor Jean-Baptiste will travel to Tokyo, Japan, at the invitation of his counterpart Takesh IWAYA to participate in the 8th Japan/CARICOM Ministerial Meeting.

This multilateral meeting will be an opportunity for Haiti to strengthen cooperative relations between Japan and the Caribbean region, while advocating for partnerships that are beneficial to Haiti.

Other bilateral meetings are also scheduled on the Haitian Chancellor's agenda with several of his Caricom counterparts to strengthen cooperation with countries in the region.
