Haiti - Disability : «The same services and opportunities for all»
On Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024, at the Karibe Hotel, the World Day of Persons with Disabilities was celebrated under the international theme "Strengthening the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future" and the national theme "The same services and opportunities for all".

This celebration organized by the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH), under the leadership of its Secretary of State Genard Joseph, brought together several members of the Government, representatives of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) and the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Integrated Office, Ms. Ulrika Richardson.

This day was an opportunity to present the BSEIPH Recovery and Renovation Plan, a key initiative to promote the inclusion and well-being of people with disabilities in Haiti, which is intended to be the cornerstone of two ambitious projects,

The Center for Documentation and Research, Specialized on Disability (CDRSH) :
- This Center will serve as a national reference on disability, by boosting knowledge and facilitating access to scientific work, reports, theses, and specialized journals. It will play a crucial role in collecting data and developing evidence-based public policies.

The National Center for Inclusion (CNI) :
- Created in 2012 through a partnership with the Christian Blind Mission, the CNI works to achieve equal opportunities for all, in accordance with Articles 29 and 30 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Its mission is to empower individuals, regardless of their physical, sensory, mental or intellectual limitations.

This celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was much more than a moment of reflection: it marked an important step in strengthening efforts for an inclusive and sustainable society in Haiti. "Together, we can build a future where every individual, without distinction, will have access to the same services and opportunities," declared the BSEIPH.
