President Michel Martelly, will participate in Caracas, Venezuela, to the first Summit of Heads of State and Government of the "Community of Latin American and Caribbean States" (CELAC) on December 1 and 2.

This meeting is part of the follow-up of the 21st annual Summit of the Rio Group, held in Playa del Carmen (Mexico) in February 2010 and in which was announced the creation of CELAC, a political multilateral body, whose main objective is to consolidate the integration and the complementarity between the 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Head of State is also invited by his Venezuelan counterpart, Hugo Chavez, to an official dinner offered on the occasion of the celebration of the Bicentennial of the Independence of Venezuela. The President Martelly believes that relations between Haiti and Venezuela have a particular character mainly because of the special historical ties of solidarity, that have been forged between the two countries and is committed to strengthening them.

The President of the Republic will take the opportunity to meet with several personalities of CELAC on the cooperation between Haiti and other countries of the South. The President Martelly should left Haiti on Thursday in the early afternoon.
