In her speech for the occasion, Mrs. Villedrouin wanted to thank and congratulate Michèle Frisch of the Galerie Marasa and her team for their work to project a positive image of the country and to better position Haitian art internationally. "I know the amount of courage, will and determination it took you to insert the cultural and artistic production in Haiti and I thank you. And thank you to each and every one of you who made the trip to encourage the artists and artisans of Haiti. Thank you for participating in this fair which also has the objective to raise funds to support institutions and organizations socio-humanitarian, whose Hand for Haiti, Pan American Development Foundation, Haiti Empowerment Mission and Project Medishare." The Minister of Tourism took the opportunity to renew the commitment of the Government to set up appropriate structures to facilitate foreign investment in the country. Ms. Villedrouin also recalled that tourism is a priority of the administration Martelly/Cornille. "The current government works to upgrade the tourist attractions including beautiful beaches, beautiful landscapes and historical monuments that make the wealth of Haiti [...] Motivate and encourage members of the Haitian diaspora to return to the country as tourists, is a new way to promote a positive image of Haiti. Be among the first people to make tourism in the country will be another way for you to contribute to the reconstruction and recovery efforts." More than 260 galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa are participating in this 10th edition of the "Art Basel Miami Beach." For its second participation to this event, Haiti is represented by artists such as Philippe Dodard, Louisiane ST Florant, Levoy Exil, Payas, Manuel Mathieu, etc... HL/ HaitiLibre
