Haiti - FLASH : More than a billion Gourdes to support the population at the end of the year
Faced with the ongoing security and health crisis, the Government is launching a Special Population Support Program that aims to meet the essential needs of the most vulnerable households, encourage economic recovery and strengthen social cohesion.

This program aims to stimulate the national economy through direct payments, public initiatives and targeted subsidies. By injecting financial resources throughout the country, it aims to alleviate household difficulties while temporarily supporting economic activity.

With a budget of more than one billion Gourdes, this plan, supported by several ministries and public institutions, adopts a coordinated and targeted approach to meet the priority needs of the population.

Inclusive Approach focused on priorities :
Assistance to Households in Precarious Situations :
- Distribution of food kits and cash transfers to the most affected households, with priority given to the elderly, people with disabilities and women heads of household. These actions are carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST).

- Setting up of mobile canteens and community restaurants to provide hot meals in several localities, by the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES).

Sanitation and Urban Infrastructure :
- Launch of a vast sanitation program, led by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities, in collaboration with town halls, the Administrative Councils of Communal Sections (CASEC) and large municipalities, to clean urban areas and collect waste.

- Labor-intensive public works for the temporary rehabilitation of strategic roads, particularly those linking Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtien, Les Cayes and Saint-Michel-de-l’Attalaye.

Strengthening Security and Logistics :
- Implementation of security measures by the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd’H) and the Haitian National Police (PNH) to protect strategic areas, facilitate the flow of essential goods and ensure orderly distribution of petroleum products in ports and airports.

Support for the Energy and Agricultural Sectors :
- Temporary increase in electricity production and distribution by the Haitian State Electricity (EDH) to improve access to electricity during this critical period.

- Targeted support for rural associations and agricultural initiatives, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture

Strengthening Health and Social Capacities :
The Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) is stepping up its efforts to improve the operational capacities of hospitals and health centers, in order to manage increased medical needs. These measures are part of a comprehensive approach to protecting and supporting the population.

Call for National Solidarity :
The Government calls for collective mobilization, public institutions, the private sector and civil society, to ensure the success of this program.
