Haiti - Constitution : The CEP transmitted to the Government 4 important documents relating to the referendum

On Monday, December 30, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) met with Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and some members of his team, including the Minister Delegate for Electoral Affairs, Joseph André Gracien Jean.

During this meeting, which lasted about an hour, the CEP transmitted to the Head of Government four documents relating to the organization of the referendum for a new Constitution :

- Draft calendar;
- Proposal for a referendum decree;
- Draft budget;
- Draft voting by prior registration on site.

These documents were also transmitted to the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT). The CEP plans to submit these proposals to the social and political sectors for discussion.

In addition to the transmission of these documents, issues related to security, participation, logistics, transparency and financing of the process were discussed during this meeting between the CEP and the Prime Minister.

Furthermore, during the first weeks of January 2025, the CEP will continue to assess its operational bases, its decentralized structures and infrastructures. The CEP will also proceed with the mobilization of the Departmental Referendum Offices (BRD) and Municipal Referendum Offices (BRC) which will become, after the referendum, Departmental Electoral Offices (BED) and Municipal Electoral Offices (BEC), during the electoral phase.

The Provisional Electoral Council is committed to conducting the processes: referendum and electoral, in complete independence, impartiality and inclusiveness.
