Haiti - 221st Independence Day : Venezuela salutes the triumph of the Haitian Revolution

Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, Yván Gil Pinto, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, "greets the Haitian people celebrating the 221st anniversary of the triumph of the Haitian Revolution, a process that took place between 1791 and 1804, and which allowed Haiti to obtain its independence from France, as well as the abolition of slavery."

Chancellor Gil recalled that with its revolution, Haiti became the first free country in Latin America and the Caribbean. "Today, we commemorate the triumph of the Haitian Revolution. By proclaiming itself the first free Nation in Latin America and the Caribbean, Haiti not only gained its independence, but also became a beacon of hope for other anti-colonial movements around the world."

Likewise, the Venezuelan Chancellor highlighted the ongoing struggle of the Haitian people against constant imperialist interventions. "The celebration of this day reminds us of the unwavering resistance of the Haitian people in their quest for justice and dignity, a fight that continues today in the face of Washington's destabilizing interventions."
