"On this January 1st, 2025, we celebrate the 221st anniversary of the proclamation of Haiti’s independence, a founding event in the history of our Nation. Under the leadership of the pioneers of our independence, on January 1st, 1804, our country overcame the colonial yoke, providing the world with a shining example of resistance, courage and freedom. This memorable day is a testament to the strength and determination of the Haitian people, who have, throughout the centuries, faced adversity and defended their sovereignty. In 2025, as our country goes through difficult times, the spirit of 1804 must continue to guide us. We have the responsibility to preserve and strengthen the legacy of freedom that our ancestors left us." Cap-Haitien City Hall : "On this memorable day of the 221st anniversary of Haiti’s Independence, the Municipal Commission of Cap-Haitien, in collaboration with departmental authorities and representatives of various sectors of society, organized a commemorative ceremony to honor the heroes of 1804.
