Haiti - Humanitarian : UNICEF 2024 report in figures
In 2024, Haiti faced many challenges, including armed violence, mass population displacement and a fragile health system. Despite this difficult context, UNICEF redoubled its efforts to ensure the well-being and rights of children and vulnerable communities.

Violence/protection :
A handover protocol for children associated with armed groups was signed and a transit centre for their reintegration established ;
- Over 360,000 people were informed on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse across the country and 32 mobile safe spaces were established to prevent and respond to GBV in the Ouest department ;
- 1,000 children deported from the Dominican Republic were reunited with their families ;
- 85,000 children impacted by armed violence received mental health and psychosocial support.

Health :
- 384 health professionals were deployed across 105 institutions, providing care to almost 45,000 beneficiaries ;
- Almost 76,000 people accessed health care services through mobile clinics in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince ;
- 5 health institutions and 2 neonatology units were rehabilitated.

Water, sanitation and hygiene :
At least 57,000 people gained access to sustainable drinking water in priority communities across the Artibonite, Centre and South departments ;
- Over 260,000 people in displacement sites received water.
- Almost 95,000 individuals benefited from proper sanitation, two thirds of whom were in displacement sites ;
- 139 inclusive latrines were constructed in 17 communities, ensuring access for people with disabilities.

Nutrition :
- A 2024–2029 multisectoral nutrition plan and a new acute malnutrition management protocol were adopted ;
- The first Integrated Food Security Phase Classification Acute Malnutrition Analysis was conducted ;
- Around 83,000 children were treated for acute malnutrition ;
- Almost 300,000 children received vitamin A supplements

Education :
Preschools were positioned as a national priority and focus of the Minister of Education through the first ever National Conference on Preschool Education ;
- 121,096 children aged between 3 and 17 have benefited from access to formal and non-formal education, including those in IDP sites in Port-au-Prince, Léogâne, and the Grand Sud.

Community engagement :
- 7.5 million people were reached with messages on access to basic social services ;
- 450,000 people benefited from information about vaccination, nutrition, breastfeeding, young child feeding, and prenatal consultations shared by U-Reporters ;
- 6,000 children were vaccinated thanks to community awareness led by U-Reporters.

Cash assistance :
- US$ 4.9 million were distributed to almost 30,000 families, reaching almost 70,000 people, including almost 17,000 children and 1,500 people with disabilities.
- 10,000 children received cash assistance in support of their education.
