Three members of the "Bakòp bosal" gang operating in several municipalities in the South department, including Ducis, Chantal and Camp-Pérrin, were killed during an intervention led by the Commissioner of the Government of Miragoane Jean Ernest Muscadin on the night of Monday 6 to Tuesday 7 January 2025, in the municipality of Les Cayes. They are : Gardy Esterve, alias "Boudou Milord Fenélon alias "Pa nan rans" and Casimir Joseph. Towards a strike in education The platform of Haitian teachers' unions, which includes: the National Union of Normaliens and Educators of Haiti (UNNOEH), the Initiative Group of Teachers in Struggle (GIEL), the National Confederation of Haitian Educators (CNEH), the National League of Haitian Teachers (LINEH), the Network of Haitian Teachers (REEH) and the Federation of Workers in Education and Culture (FENATEC), is preparing to launch a strike call in the education sector starting Monday, January 13, 2025. The objective is to force the Government and the Ministry of National Education to respond to teachers' demands and demand better working conditions in public schools. PoliFRONT : Intensification of patrols On the instructions of Rameau Normil, Acting Commander-in-Chief of the Haitian National Police (PNH), the Land Border Police (PoliFRONT) is intensifying its patrols and controls in several departments of the country, particularly in the Southeast, Center and Northeast. These measures aim to thwart acts of banditry, while ensuring the protection of the lives and property of citizens in these regions. Operation of the BRI and UTAG in Port-au-Prince (Video) The Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) and the Temporary Anti-Gang Unit (UTAG) carried out an intervention on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, mainly Nazon, near the Sylvio Cator Stadium and next to the General Hospital. As part of this intervention, the security forces removed the bandits' traps and barricades to prevent the police from entering these areas. Towards the opening of the Port of Saint-Louis du Sud Jacques Ambroise, Spokesperson for the Presidential Transitional Council, declared on the airwaves of a radio station in the capital that the port of Saint-Louis du Sud will soon open to foreign trade, specifying that the various state authorities concerned have already given their agreement.
