Haiti - Security : High-level meeting on national security
On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé chaired a working session focused on the national security file, in which Ministers Jean Michel Moïse (Defense), Patrick Pelissier (Justice), Paul Antoine Bien-Aimé (Interior), Mario Andrésol, the new Secretary of State for Public Security, Rameau Normil, Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), Lieutenant General Derby Guerrier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) and Godfrey Otunge, the Kenyan Commander of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) participated.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed his firm and absolute commitment to restoring peace and stability in Haiti, stressing that the security of Haitian citizens is a national priority and said he was resolutely determined to do everything possible to ensure the security of every Haitian and restore the integrity of the territory national.

He stressed the need to strengthen collaboration between the various security institutions and to optimize available resources to address the escalation of violence and criminal acts that threaten social cohesion.

The Prime Minister further recalled that the resilience of the Haitian people in the face of current challenges depends on a concerted, pragmatic and rapid response.

He called for a general mobilization, including all actors in society, to implement concrete measures to eradicate the root causes of insecurity and restore public order.

He also stressed the need for enhanced cooperation with international partners to ensure a secure environment conducive to the reconstruction and sustainable development of the country.

This meeting marks the beginning of a series of urgent initiatives and actions, the aim of which is to respond effectively to Haiti's security challenges.
