Haiti - FLASH : Trump removes the CBP One application and the Biden conditional stay program
On Monday, January 20, 2025, Donald Trump hit hard on immigration, he told Fox journalist Bill Melugin that if elected, he would immediately end the cell phone application Customs and Border Protection (CBP One), which allowed migrants to request an appointment at the Mexican border to apply for asylum in the US.

In addition, in his inauguration speech, Donald Trump confirmed his policy of mass deportation and the end of the conditional stay program Humanitarian Parole set up by the Biden administration.

The Customs and Border Protection website states that "CBP One has been out of service since January 20, 2025" and that all "Existing appointments are canceled." Tens of thousands of migrants, many of them Haitians, are reeling from shock and left with no options, forced to wait and see what happens next..

In an executive order signed Monday, January 20, 2025, Trump directed the Department of Homeland Security to "terminate all programs" that are contrary to U.S. policies set forth in his executive orders, "including the Conditional Stay Program that allows migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to legally enter the United States and remain temporarily for up to 2 years" unless they find other legal ways to stay long-term.

It is not yet known what will happen to the hundreds of thousands of people who are currently in the United States under the Biden Program...

The New York Times reports that President Trump decided Monday to eliminate the program, known as Humanitarian Parole, introduced by the Biden administration in early 2023, which allowed migrants from 4 countries including Haiti to fly to the United States if they had a financial sponsor and passed security checks.
