Haiti - Politic : Leslie Voltaire's Agenda in France

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Leslie Voltaire, the Haitian President pro tempore of the Transitional Council, accompanied by Chancellor Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste, arrived in Paris at the head of a Haitian delegation, for a 2-day official visit,

During his stay, President Voltaire will be received at the Élysée Palace this Wednesday, January 29, 2025 by the President of France Emmanuel Macron, a symbol of the historical and diplomatic ties uniting the two nations.

In addition, President Voltaire will meet during his stay with Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), to discuss new cooperation initiatives within the framework of the Francophone space.

Voltaire will also meet with Jean-Marc Ayrault, former Prime Minister of France and current President of the Foundation for the Memory of Slavery. The joint efforts to preserve memory and recognize historical legacies will be discussed, essential pillars for building a future marked by justice and reconciliation.

Finally, in a gesture of proximity, Voltaire will meet members of the Haitian diaspora in order to strengthen the ties between this community and their country of origin, while promoting the role of the diaspora in Haiti's international influence.

This official visit embodies the renewed desire of Haiti and France to consolidate a partnership based on common principles of cooperation, solidarity and mutual respect, while opening new perspectives for a shared future.
