Haiti - FLASH : Diaspora, good news for the 40,000 pending passport applications...

Antoine Jean Simon Fénélon, the Director of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) accompanied by a delegation, proceeded to the instllation of a new team within the passport unit of the Embassy of Haiti in Washington.

This initiative aims to strengthen the efficiency of the service and ensure faster and more transparent processing of passport applications for Haitian nationals residing abroad. It will accelerate the resolution of files awaiting processing…

Currently, approximately 40,000 passport applications are pending. Thanks to this new dynamic, a significant reduction in this number is expected within approximately two months.

In addition, the Embassy’s passport unit will now operate with a reinforced workforce in terms of human and material resources. Until now, the production capacity was limited to 500 passports per day. With this intervention, this capacity will increase to 2,000 passports per day in order to guarantee a more efficient service.

A major reform also accompanies this restructuring : all new applications at the Embassy of Haiti in Washington will now be processed via the personalization system, replacing the use of paper forms. The DIE is actively working to extend this mechanism to other Haitian diplomatic missions abroad.

Through these initiatives, the DIE reaffirms its commitment to equip diplomatic representations in the country with efficient tools in order to improve the quality of services offered to Haitian citizens, both in Haiti and within the diaspora.
