FLASH Visa Brazil

The Visa Application Center for Brazil (CAVB) in Haiti operated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM - Haiti) informs that due to the overall security situation, the CAVB will not operate this Monday, February 3rd, 2025. The beneficiaries concerned will be able to present themselves as early as Thursday, February 6, 2025, if the situation allows. We hope to return to normal operations as early as Tuesday morning.

The PNH on maximum alert

Following threats from armed gangs, Rameau Normil, the acting Commander-in-Chief of the Haitian National Police (PNH), issued instructions to the Central and Departmental Directors, Commanders of specialized units and Heads of Police Stations and Sub-Police Stations, in order to maintain their personnel on maximum alert and to adopt all appropriate measures to thwart possible attacks by armed gangs on the civilian population.

Several schools closed

Following threats of violence made by gangs in the capital, several educational institutions, including Saint-Louis de Gonzague and École Jean-Marie Guilloux, announced on Sunday, January 2nd, the closure of their establishments on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, in order to protect the lives of students and their staff.

2 active members of the "400 Mawozo" arrested in the DR

Saturday, February 1st, 2025. Two active members of the "400 Mawozo" Lory Thermidor and Louis Jean Robenson, were arrested in the Dominican Republic. These two individuals were handed over by the Dominican authorities to the Land Border Police (PoliFRONT), at Belladère, Center department. According to the Dominican Police, other members of the criminal gang 400 Mawozo, which sows terror in Haiti, were arrested during operations carried out at different points on the Dominican border.

The National Conference consults the diaspora

As part of the National Conference Conference, the steering committee continues its discussions with various personalities in order to strengthen dialogue and the inclusion of the Haitian diaspora. In this capacity, Joram Vixamar, member of the steering committee, led several meetings in New York with the Haitian diaspora. This process is part of the five strategic axes defined by the Government. Other exchanges are already scheduled to ensure active and constructive participation of the diaspora in the reflections and decisions that will determine the future of Haiti.

Fort Liberté : Launch of pre-carnival activities (video)

Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, Louis Jacques Jr. Étienne, Mayor of Fort Liberté, in the presence of several local personalities, officially launched the pre-carnival activities of the 2025 National Carnival, which will take place this year around the theme "Haïti Debout" (from March 2nd to 4th, 2025).
