Haiti - Security : Petion-ville under fire

On the night of Saturday 8 to Sunday 9 February 2025, around 3 a.m., residents of the commune of Pétion-Ville were awakened by the sound of bullets, particularly in the neighborhoods of Meyotte, Diègue, Gros Jean, Doco, Malique and Métivier, resulting from clashes between law enforcement, supported by local brigades, and members of the "Kraze Baryè" gang led by Vitelhomme, causing panic among the population.
Members of the "Kraze Baryè" gang reportedly attempted an incursion into the aforementioned areas in order to take control of them. In response to this attack, the Haitian National Police (PNH) deployed its specialized units to respond.
Around 7:30 a.m., the exchange of fire continued, preventing residents from going about their Sunday, religious and family activities.
Intervention that resulted in several fatally injured bandits, and the withdrawal of the attackers to other neighboring areas.
