Haiti - Politic : Members of the Government in the collimator of the Senate

A senatorial commission responsible for investigating on the alleged foreign citizenship of several members of the government including President Michel Martelly should start working next week, Tuesday the 9 members [Joseph Lambert, Yvon Buissereth, Steven Benoît, Youri Latortue, Dieuseul Simon Deras, Evallière Beauplan, John Joël Joseph, Nenel Cassy and Moïse Jean-Charles] of the commission should meet to structure the commission, appoint the President and the Rapporteur. The members of the Commission will be divided into several sub-committees, each member will have to verify the nationality of one member of the government.

The senator of North, Moïse Jean-Charles, member and instigator of this commission reported that according to information he has, in addition to the President Martelly, at least three members of the government team would have a dual citizenship.

The senator François Anik Joseph (Artibonite / ALTERNATIV) hoped that the commission make recommendations that will go in the direction of the constitution if the veracity of information about the foreign nationality of several government is proven.

The Senator Moïse, blaming the passivity of the Senate, had justified this commission by the absence, according to him, of serious investigations on the nationality of members of the ministerial cabinet during the ratification process.
