Haiti - UEH : Tribute to several people from the university community (List) 16/02/2025 09:03:25
Friday, February 14, 2025, on the eve of his departure, Rector Fritz Deshommes wanted to honor several members of the university community who have distinguished themselves in one way or another in recent years. "Honor and Merit" plaques were awarded to more than twenty professors, executives and students of all ranks and from several entities in Port-au-Prince and the provinces.
People distinguished for their "constancy and loyalty in the service of the UEH ":
- Ms. Marie-Michelle Théodate, Head of Department at the National Institute of Administration, Management and Higher International Studies (INAGHEI) 45-year career, the longest-serving employee of the entire UEH at the administrative staff level;
- Ms. Marie Rose Boisguene, Head of Department at the Faculty of Odontology, 43-year career;
- Antoine Lorrejuste, messenger at the Rectorate, 40-year career, the oldest member of the Rectorate's administrative staff;
- Ms. Marie-Gerva Noelsaint, First Assistant in Human Resources, 38-year career, 2nd oldest member of the Rectorate's administrative staff;
- Professor Pierre Lelien Douyon, from the École Normale Supérieure, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Faculty of Ethnology, 52-year career the oldest professor in office at the entire UEH;
- Professor Lyonel Vil, from the Faculty of Sciences 50-year career still in office;
- Ms. Darline Joseph, Head of Department at the Rector’s Office and Manager of the UEH-ARES/CCD Program, assistant to the Rector for 19 years;
- Daniel Chéry, Rector’s Driver for 20 years.
People distinguished for their "exceptional contribution to the influence of the UEH" :
- Paul Antoine Bien-Aimé, former Director of the Rector’s Office (currently Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities), who has been at the forefront of all the battles led by the University in recent years;
- Dr. Marie-Evelyne Moise, member of the Rector’s Office, a rare and precious resource, who has generously opened many doors for the UEH;
- Professor Dominique Boisson, Coordinator of the UEH-ARES/CCD Program and promoter and Director of the first Haitian research laboratory with regional scope, CARIBACT;
- Jhon Picard Byron, Director of UEH Publishing and promoter of the first Haitian laboratory authorized to supervise doctoral students;
- Professor Ronald Jean-Jacques, member of the Rector's Office, Executive Secretary of the Haitian National Committee for Restitution and Reparations, who was a key player in all the major battles recently led by the UEH;
- Professor Jean-Marie Raymond Noël, who left his mark on the University Council. A reference in the field;
- Professor Hérissé Guirand, President of the Management Board of the Henry Christophe Campus of the UEH in Limonade, who, with his colleagues, has made this campus the most dynamic entity of the UEH and the best anchored in its environment;
- Professor Chantal Noël, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Odontology, the oldest member of the University Council, a model of dedication and attachment to the UEH;
- Professor Christian Toussaint, former Director of Cooperation and Partnership, who has been able to give this important department of the Rectorate a dimension never before achieved.
Distinguished for their "dynamism and dedication to the service of the UEH" :
- Professor Jacques Blaise, Vice-Rector for Research. Main characteristics: humility, self-effacing but of a rare efficiency with a very high sense of results;
- Professor Thadal Étienne, Coordinator of INAGHEI, former member of the Rector's Office, unfailing competence and availability;
- Professor Lyonel Sanon, member of the Rector's Office, a high sense of dialogue and consultation and an unwavering faith in our ability to meet challenges;
- Anthony Pierre Louis, member of the Rector's Office, a great connoisseur of the Haitian Public Administration and our financial laws;
- Professor Jusnerd Nelson, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Cap-Haïtien, the longest serving dean of the UEH;
- Professor Jocelyn Louissaint, Dean of the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine, one of the most dynamic deans of our university. A very keen sense of opportunity and tireless hunter of resources for his Faculty;
- Professor Judith St-Surin, Director of Continuing Education: an extraordinary capacity for work and a very keen sense of results;
- Professor Jean-Marie Théodat, first President of the CHCL, first coordinator of the Research Laboratory for “Resilient Urban Planning and Development of Risky Territories” (URBATER), member of the National Committee for Restitutions and Reparations, a model of commitment to the UEH;
- Professor Marilise Rouzier, member of the office of the Vice-Rector for Research, our main national expert in plant medicine and dynamic promoter of local pharmacopoeia;
- Nidjenski Platel, student at INAGHEI, Coordinator of the "Etidyan Leta" Platform, for his remarkable "UEH Award" initiative, intended to recognize the exceptional talents, efforts and achievements of UEH students.
