Haiti - FLASH : A FAd’H soldier killed and two others injured in violent fighting in Kenskoff

On Sunday, February 16, 2025, in the early hours of the morning, soldiers of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd’H) have been attacked by heavily armed bandits while protecting the strategic antenna site of Kenscoff.

A FAd’H soldier was killed and two others were injured, confirmed the Ministry of Defense, following intense exchanges of fire between the soldiers and the bandits who wanted to take control of the site.

"Bowing with deep sadness to the memory of the soldier Petit’homme Charles Benictor who died in the accomplishment of his patriotic mission, the Minister of Defense, Jean-Michel Moïse, the High Staff of the Armed Forces of Haiti, the Government and the Transitional Presidential Council join in the immense pain of his family. Their thoughts are with all his loved ones as well as his brothers in arms."

The two injured soldiers are receiving the care their cases require.

Jack Mbaka Spokesperson for the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) announced that reinforcements had been sent and that early this afternoon the site was under the full control of the Haitian National Police and a team of MMSS special forces.

The Government reminds citizens that the State will not back down from its duties to protect the population and secure the territory. In this context, the Ministry of Defense provides its strong support to the soldiers of the Haitian Armed Forces who are fully engaged in efforts to protect strategic sites and the vital interests of the Nation.
