Haiti - Commerce and Industry : Minister Monazard unveils the main points of his 2024-2025 action plan

On Monday, February 17, 2025, James Monazard, Minister of Trade and Industry, held a meeting to present the main points of his administration's action plan for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, in the presence of the Director General, Panel Paulémont, the Chief of Staff, Guirand Nixon, as well as dozens of directors and heads of departments of the institution.

The action plan, which served as the main document for the discussions, highlights several of the Minister's priorities, including: trade, consumer protection, industry, entrepreneurship, the business environment, administration and finance, communications and technology. These actions aim to improve the conditions for strengthening the commercial and industrial sectors, while contributing to the country's economic recovery.

In his speech, Minister Monazard underlined his commitment to innovating together in the ministry's departments. He announced the launch of a system allowing everyone to have access to the online renewal of their Professional Identity Card (CIP), just as they can do for the registration of a business name.

On the other hand, he aims to propose a decree on consumer protection and to set up a ministerial council to ensure better control of the food consumed by the population.

The Minister also revealed his intention to conduct a study on the quality of treated water sold in the metropolitan region, as well as another on e-commerce in the country.

In addition, the Minister aims to strengthen the sewing and shoemaking sector in the country, just as he wants to support 2 micro-industrial parks and at least 1,000 companies throughout the territory, in the areas of training and financing.
