Haiti - FLASH : DIE denies false accusations against its Director

The Communication Unit of the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) formally denies the recent allegations circulating on social media against the Director, Jean Antoine Simon Fénélon, stressing that they are unfounded, false and part of a disinformation campaign aimed at tarnishing the image of the institution.

"The allegations that the Director favors a private travel agency or requires passport fees to be paid in cash are completely false. The issuance of passports follows a rigorous process, based on objective and administrative criteria, without any external interference."

The Communication Unit of the DIE recalls that "the management of funds relating to passport fees and other services is subject to strict procedures, in accordance with the standards established by the public administration. No transaction may be carried out outside the internal accounting and official treasury circuits. This is to guarantee the transparency and traceability of financial transactions."

Faced with these unfounded attacks, the DIE Communication Unit invites the population not to give in to disinformation and assures that the management remains at the disposal of the competent authorities for any verification or audit aimed at establishing the truth.
