Haiti - FLASH : Trump administration launches mobile app for self-expulsion

On Monday, March 10, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced the launch of the public mobile app CBP Home. This app includes an "Intent to Depart" feature, allowing illegal aliens or those whose conditional stay has been revoked, a voluntary, structured, and defined process to notify the U.S. government of their intention to leave the United States, before facing more serious consequences.
"The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self-deport so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future and live the American dream [...]If they don’t, we will find them, we will deport them, and they will never return," said Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, in a statement.
Laura Rivera, senior attorney at the organization "Just Futures Law," believes that instead of believing the Trump administration's promise, concerned immigrants should first consult a legal advisor to explore their options before making a hasty decision.
Furthermore, according to our information, as part of a new enhanced security policy, the Trump administration is considering adding Haiti to a list of countries whose nationals would face restrictions on entering the United States. This measure stems from an executive order signed by Trump on January 30, 2025, instructing federal agencies to identify countries with inadequate screening systems. However, the restrictions Haitians might face remain speculative at this stage, pending the official announcement of the decision.
