TPS : Complaint Against Trump and DHS On Friday, March 14, 2025, nine Haitians, a powerful union, and a Protestant group filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York against President Donald Trump and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), led by Kristi Noem, for their decision to reduce TPS status for more than half a million Haitians in the United States by six months. The plaintiffs allege that this reduction, which was made in violation of U.S. immigration law and without proper review, is unlawful and motivated by "Trump's racial animus toward non-white immigrants." They are asking the court to block the executive order regarding this reduction. Discussions focused on several areas of strategic cooperation between Haiti and France in the area of security, including the training and capacity building of several sections of soldiers of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAD'H) in Martinique. Government Council : Major Issues This Friday, March 14, 2025, Prime Minister Fils Aimé chaired a Government Council meeting devoted to major issues : Security, Economic Recovery, the Amended Budget, the Referendum and Electoral Process, and Government Cohesion. Canada : Haiti's Ambassador Ends Mission This week, Weibert Arthus bid farewell to the Diplomatic Corps of Canada, where he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Haiti, Dean of the CARICOM Group of Heads of Mission, and Representative of the Americas to the Group of Francophone Ambassadors.
