Haiti - Economy : Business Incubator at Camp Corail
The NGO "Entrepeneurs du Monde" (Entrepreneur of the World) inaugurated this week a business incubator at Camp Corail to provide an opportunity to our compatriots to open their own small business in this locality from credits granted by this NGO. For this project, three buildings were built according to the hurricane-resistant and earthquake-resistant standards for an amount of 50.000 U.S. dollars. The engineers explain that these buildings will last more than 20 years, depending of the maintenance done by the tenants "These buildings are of traditional architecture, inspired by a Gingerbread, as we find in Port-au-Prince. These buildings are wood frame [...] the principle is to create a light frame that will be able to dissipate the energy of the earthquake, it's a flexible framework" specified the engineer Florie Dejeant.

Guillaume Mellot, General Coordinator post-emergency, said that the incubator will bring to the new entrepreneurs "...the first year there is no charge for rental of space, its' free, it is a business incubator, it is there to assist people to start their business. After one year, they will begin to pay rent, calculated according to the capacities of each company [...] at the end of the third year [...] the business goes away, because normally it acquired the ability to rent its own local [...] and it gives its place to another business..."

The NGO "Entrepeneurs du Monde" also puts at the disposal of the new entrepreneurs an envelope called "Corail Fund." Young entrepreneurs will have access to loans ranging from 75.000 to 150.000 gourds, however, the fund can not go beyond 30 small businesses. Will be encouraged projects such as: cybercafe, hairdresser, restaurants, bakery etc...
