Verónica Solano opened the scoring for Costa Rica in the 19th minute, finishing in the box after receiving a pass from the right wing [1-0]. Lucía Paniagua extended the lead with consecutive goals in the 27th minute [2-0] and 39th minute [3-0] with two precise left-footed shots at the far post.
