Haiti - FAd'H : A Haitian army of 20,000 men over 4 years
As part of efforts to modernize the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H) and strengthen regional security cooperation, Presidential Advisor Smith Augustin, currently in Washington, at the head of a Haitian delegation, accompanied by the Permanent Mission of Haiti to the OAS, was received by the Executive Council of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB).

Meeting Highlights :
White Paper :
Thanks for the IADB's historic support, particularly during the development of the White Paper (https://www.haitilibre.com/docs/Livre_Blanc.pdf) on security and national defense (2014-2015). This strategic document served as a guiding light for Haiti's military institutional development. This white paper will be updated and strengthened in light of current security challenges and based on the elements of the framework document discussed during the meeting.

Presentation of the Haitian Government's Vision :
Build a modern, inclusive, republican army that respects human rights and is deeply committed to serving the population.

Training and Capacity Building for Law Enforcement :
The Haitian Government has expressed its commitment to training 20,000 soldiers over four years, with specialized modules in crisis management, armed counterinsurgency intervention, cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and natural disaster relief operations.

As part of this strengthening, the delegation advocated for assistance in establishing a military academy dedicated to officer training, as well as the creation of local training structures for soldiers to facilitate the autonomous and sustainable development of human resources within the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H) and a strategic response tailored to current security challenges.

- Relaunching regional cooperation :
Expressed desire to strengthen cooperation with the IADB, the Inter-American Defense College (IADC), and the OAS Secretariat for Multidimensional Security (SMS), with a view to exchanging expertise, sharing intelligence, and strengthening the technical and scientific capabilities of the FAD'H.
